HealthMiles Plus de Virgin Life Care
Humana
and Virgin Life Care, a subsidiary of Virgin, have come together
to introduce HealthMiles Plus. HealthMiles Plus combines an individual
medical insurance product, similar to the HumanaOne individual
product line, featuring a variety of PPO plans, with a distinctly
unique product feature — a health rewards program provided
by Virgin Life Care. The health rewards program starts with discounts
for health club memberships. Then, as members improve their health,
they earn points that can be redeemed for sports clothing, health
and beauty products, music downloads and more.
The individual medical insurance component of HealthMiles
Plus is underwritten by Humana Insurance Company Inc. All aspects
of the health plan administration for HealthMiles Plus members,
such as paying claims, issuing authorizations, determining coverage
and customer service support, etc., will be performed by Humana.
Virgin is a branded venture capital organization with businesses
in sectors including health plans, mobile telephones, transportation,
travel, financial services, leisure, music, publishing and retailing.
Physicians will begin to see HealthMiles Plus members
in August. The program will initially be available in Tampa, Fla.,
and San Antonio, Texas, and will become available in other Humana
markets in the following months.
Physicians should not experience any difference in
working with Humana for health plan administration. The same administration
guidelines for Humana plans apply to HealthMiles Plus plans. Por ejemplo:
- Office staff should always refer to the HealthMiles Plus member’s
identification card for contact information.
- Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements, Explanation of Reimbursement
(EOR) statements, reimbursement, utilization and all other office
procedures regarding administrative services for HealthMiles Plus
members will be the same as with other Humana plans.
- A member’s benefits or payment responsibility can be
verified by calling the phone number shown on the member’s
identification card. You can also verify a member’s benefits
or payment responsibility at www.humana.com.
Choose “Providers,” then “Provider Resource
Center.” Enter your user ID and password to log into the
secure “Provider Self-service Center” and then select
“Member Eligibility Verification.”
- A listing of other participating providers will be available
through Humana’s Physician Finder Plus provider search engine
at www.humana.com.
Under the “I Want to Find a:” heading, select the
appropriate provider type to begin the search.
Above is a sample of the front of a HealthMiles Plus
ID card. Note: The Virgin Web site listed on the card is for the
health rewards program only.
