Nueva función de la tarjeta HumanaAccess

Beginning July 1, 2006, Humana employees began receiving a new HumanaAccess^sm Visa^® debit card that gives members access to the balances in both their Health Savings Account (HSA) and Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA). The new, integrated card provides dual functionality and replaces the two separate cards for each account. The card continues to serve as a health plan member medical ID card for employees who have medical benefits through Humana.

The card is equipped with technology so that when swiped, funds are automatically deducted from the appropriate account. For example, if the card is swiped at a member’s physician’s office, the funds are automatically deducted from the member’s HSA account.

Since this card is used exactly the same way as the individual cards have been used in the past, this change is transparent for providers. The card looks the same (see image above). The card can be used either at the time of the visit for copayments, or following the office visit after Humana has processed a remittance notice. Some providers do not yet have the capability of accepting the HumanaAccess card and other credit and debit cards. For providers considering adding this technology, Humana has created a program to offer discounts on transaction fees for electronic payments. The program, created in conjunction with Chase Paymentech Solutions, a provider of electronic payment solutions, is available to Humana and Humana’s ChoiceCare Network participating providers.
